Cadillac unveils XT5 PHEV hybrid SUV for China
Cadillac has unveiled the XT5 PHEV, a new plug-in hybrid crossover designed exclusively for the Chinese market. The model features a two-motor electrified setup producing 362 horsepower, paired with a turbocharged 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine and a two-speed direct hybrid transmission.
The vehicle is equipped with a 35.5kWh lithium-ion battery, providing an estimated electric range of approximately 96 miles (155km). Cadillac claims this range exceeds that of current plug-in hybrids available in the United States. The SUV also utilizes an EV architecture developed by Cadillac’s engineering team in China.
Technological integration includes the Momenta R7 assisted-driving system, which utilizes LiDAR, high-definition cameras, and millimeter-wave radar to navigate complex scenarios. Pre-sales for the XT5 PHEV in China are scheduled to begin on August 21, 2026.
