Cadisun executive appeals sentence in 405 billion VND accounting fraud case

Nguyen Minh Thanh, the former Deputy General Director of Cadisun Company, has filed an appeal seeking a reduced sentence following his initial four-year prison term. The appeal, submitted to the Hanoi People's Court, cites mitigating factors including sincere confession, full remediation of consequences, remorse, and a family history of service to the revolution.

The case involves violations of accounting regulations that allegedly caused a loss of 405 billion VND to the state budget. Between 2020 and 2023, Cadisun's Chairman and General Director, Pham Luong Hoa, reportedly directed the sale of goods without issuing invoices to fund internal expenditures. To facilitate this, the company utilized Lemon3-ERP software with two independent data zones: one for internal management recording all actual transactions, and another for financial accounting and tax reporting that only recorded legal, invoiced transactions.

In the first-instance trial, several Cadisun executives received sentences: Pham Luong Hoa was sentenced to five years in prison; Nguyen Minh Thanh received four years; Nguyen Thi Them received a 36-month suspended sentence; Dang Thi Thu Huong received three years; Nguyen Thi Minh received 30 months; and Le Thi Thanh Hai received a 28-month suspended sentence.
