Cadu de Lula proposes IPVA tax exemption for transport workers in Rio Grande do Norte

Cadu de Lula (PT), a candidate for the governorship of Rio Grande do Norte, has proposed a zero IPVA (Motor Vehicle Property Tax) rate for vehicles used by ride-hailing drivers, cooperative-linked professionals, and registered mototaxistas.

The proposal aims to reduce operational costs for workers who rely on cars and motorcycles for their livelihood. Unlike current state legislation, which provides exemptions for certain taxis and specific professional motorcycles, this plan would use professional activity as the primary criterion rather than vehicle engine displacement.

Details regarding the specific documentation required to prove professional activity, potential limits on the number of vehicles per beneficiary, and the total estimated fiscal impact have not yet been released by the campaign. Implementation of the measure would require legislative approval and compliance with fiscal regulations.
