CAEA launches campaign against food industry disinformation

The Andalusian Confederation of Food and Perfumery Entrepreneurs (CAEA) has launched a campaign titled ‘No compres bulos, no te los tragues’ (Don’t buy hoaxes, don’t swallow them) to combat disinformation in the food and consumer goods sectors.

In collaboration with the Regional Ministry of Employment, Business and Self-Employment of the Junta de Andalucía, the initiative aims to encourage consumers to verify sources and practice responsible information consumption. Industry data suggests that over 30% of internet news is related to food, making the sector particularly vulnerable to viral misinformation.

Miguel Rus, president of the Seville Business Confederation (CES), noted that disinformation has evolved from a social issue into a business risk that affects consumer decisions, investor perception, and economic activity. CAEA President Virginia González Lucena emphasized that the daily presence of food products in citizens' lives makes this sector especially sensitive to deceptive content.
