Caerphilly Council receives new development proposals

Two separate development proposals have been submitted to the Caerphilly County Borough Council for projects in the Penpedairheol and Abercarn areas.

In Penpedairheol, applicant Neil Carter has proposed a residential development at the former isolation hospital site at Gelligaer Court. The plan involves demolishing a large industrial shed to make way for two houses within the former hospital building and three “barn-like dwellings” off Hospital Road. Architects Loyn and Co stated the project aims to restore the site’s former character and meet local demand for large homes.

In Abercarn, Rhys Price of Ty Grapple has submitted plans to convert a unit at the Prince of Wales Industrial Estate into a martial arts and fitness academy. The proposed facility would offer training in disciplines such as Brazilian jiu-jitsu and judo, featuring training areas, a reception, and offices. The academy intends to operate via an online pre-booking system with classes limited to approximately 30 students.
