Caerphilly girls football festival draws 3,600 attendees

The fourth‑annual girls football festival organised by Caerphilly Castle Ladies and Girls FC took place on June 27‑28 at Virginia Park in south Wales. More than 122 teams and over 1,200 players competed, with around 2,400 parents and supporters on site, bringing total attendance to over 3,600 people. Fifteen percent of team entry fees were donated to the children's cancer charity Latch, raising more than £600.

A week later, at the Euro1wall Welsh Open held in Nelson, Welsh pair Andrew Meaney and Jamie Amos claimed the men’s doubles title, defeating Conor Keenan and Brian McAleer 21‑13. Irish competitors dominated the singles and women’s doubles events, and organisers announced plans for the 2027 tournament.
