Caerphilly welcomes Breton visitors and advances £23 million primary school project

Around 30 visitors from the Breton towns of Lannion and Ploubezre arrived in Caerphilly and Llanbradach on 24‑25 July as part of a three‑decade‑old twinning partnership. The guests were hosted by local families, attended a performance by the Caerphilly Male Voice Choir, took part in Welsh‑Breton dancing, and saw a plaque unveiled in Llanbradich to mark the twinning with Ploubezre. The exchange included a football match, a boules tournament and a tour of Cardiff’s Principality Stadium.

Meanwhile, construction of the new £23 million Plasyfelin Primary School in Caerphilly is on schedule, with completion expected by next March and full opening slated for 2027. The school will replace the existing building, provide capacity for up to 420 pupils, and include expanded nursery, childcare and community sports facilities. The project is jointly funded by Caerphilly Council and the Welsh Government, with BAM Construction leading the build and employing local workers and apprentices.
