CAF delegation arrives in Nigeria for final facility inspections
A 15-member delegation from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has arrived in Nigeria for a second and final inspection of facilities intended to host major upcoming events. The inspection aims to prepare for the 48th CAF Ordinary General Assembly and the 2026 CAF Awards.
The General Assembly is scheduled for November 21 at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja. The CAF Awards, described as the continent’s largest football awards ceremony, are set for December 7 at the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and Creative Arts in Lagos.
Led by CAF’s Head of Safety and Security, Dr. Christian Emeruwa, the delegation will be accompanied by a six-man Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) team led by Dr. Ademola Olajire. In Lagos, inspectors will assess the Wole Soyinka Centre, Eko Hotel & Suites, and Murtala Muhammed International Airport. In Abuja, the team will inspect the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, Transcorp Hilton Hotel, and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, while also meeting with officials from the National Sports Commission.
