CAF opens bids for AFCON 2028, 2032 and 2036

CAF AFCON 2028 host bids Africa Cup of Nations bidding process

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) invited its 54 member associations to submit proposals to host the Africa Cup of Nations in 2028, 2032 and 2036. CAF said the bidding framework is designed to be transparent, credible and ethical, with support from PwC and other technical and legal advisers. The tournament, which draws over 3.2 billion TV viewers and six billion digital views, will be staged annually except in FIFA World Cup years.

CAF noted that the 2027 edition will be co‑hosted by Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda. For the 2028 cycle, Botswana‑South Africa and Ethiopia have confirmed intent to bid, while Morocco announced it will not pursue any future AFCON hosting. Senegal is preparing a bid for 2032.

Details such as submission deadlines and technical requirements were not disclosed.
