CAS to hold hearing on Senegal's appeal of 2025 AFCON title

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has scheduled a hearing for October 8, 2026, in Lausanne, Switzerland, to address the appeal filed by the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF). The appeal contests the Confederation of African Football (CAF) decision to strip Senegal of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title and award it to Morocco via a 3-0 forfeit victory.

The dispute originates from the AFCON 2025 final in Rabat, where Senegal initially won 1-0 in extra time. Following a penalty award and subsequent chaos where Senegalese players briefly left the pitch, CAF's Appeals Board ruled in March 2026 that Senegal had forfeited the match.

The hearing will be held in person and behind closed doors, as no parties requested a public session. The proceedings will be conducted in French. Representatives from the FSF and the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) will attend in person, while CAF will be represented by legal counsel.

A three-member arbitration panel will oversee the case, led by President Gérald Simon (France), alongside Luigi Fumagalli (Italy) and Ulrich Haas (Germany). CAS has stated that a final verdict will not be issued on the day of the hearing.
