CAF releases 2026/27 club competition calendar and launches 2028 AFCON hosting bids

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced the official calendar for the 2026/27 season of its club competitions, the Champions League and Confederation Cup. Preliminary knockout rounds begin in early September 2026, with the group stage slated for late November 2026 through January 2027 and finals scheduled for May 2027.

CAF also opened the bidding process for the 2028 Africa Cup of Nations, inviting interested nations to submit detailed proposals. Ethiopia, Morocco and a joint bid by Botswana and South Africa have already expressed interest, with the process also covering the 2032 and 2036 editions. The federation will evaluate stadiums, training facilities, accommodation, transport, security and medical services before selecting the hosts.
