Cagliari and Quartu communities organize environmental cleanups

Community groups and volunteers in the Cagliari and Quartu regions of Sardinia are organizing and conducting environmental cleanup initiatives to protect local natural areas and infrastructure.

In Cagliari, a collaborative effort involving numerous local associations, including FIAB Cagliari and Retake Cagliari, is scheduled for Sunday, October 18. The initiative focuses on cleaning the Terramaini–Molentargius cycle path to maintain the connection between the city and the Molentargius natural area. The event is supported by the Municipality of Cagliari and the Molentargius-Saline Regional Natural Park.

In Quartu, recent ecological walks have successfully removed waste from the Stella di Mare beach and the pedestrian and cycling paths along via Fiume. Organized by groups such as the Isula Fishing Club Sardegna, these efforts aim to raise awareness about waste disposal and the importance of respecting shared public spaces and marine environments.
