Cahit Üren Cup held in Istanbul to honor sailing veteran

The MYSK–Cahit Üren Cup was held on the Caddebostan–Adalar course to honor the memory of Cahit Üren, a prominent figure in Turkish sailing. Hosted by the Marmara Sailing Sports Club (MYSK) in collaboration with the Turkey Offshore Racing Club (TAYK), the event served as the 8th leg of the TAYK Trophy.

Despite variable wind conditions, two races were completed. Due to shifting winds of approximately 8 knots, the Race Committee decided to conduct the first race on a geographic route. As conditions stabilized with winds reaching 10-12 knots, a second buoy race was held for all classes. A third scheduled race was canceled to allow time for the memorial ceremony and awards presentation.

A total of 32 boats and 277 athletes competed across various classes, including IRC 0 through IRC 4 and IRC GO. The event honored Üren, a former Navy officer and long-time TAYK General Manager, who contributed significantly to the Turkish Sailing Federation and international sailing organizations.
