Caimancito inaugurates new solid waste management plant

Governor Carlos Sadir inaugurated a new Mini Transfer Station (MET) in Caimancito, marking the ninth plant added to the province's Integral Management of Urban Solid Waste (GIRSU) network. Located in the Sustainable Industrial Park, the two-hectare facility is designed to optimize the reception, classification, and logistics of waste for municipalities in the Ledesma department.

The station will serve Caimancito, Yuto, El Talar, and Vinalito, with connections to collection points in Palma Sola and El Fuerte. Collected waste will be transported to the Perico plant for final disposal, while dry recyclable materials will be sent to Libertador for valorization. The facility has a projected daily capacity of approximately 17,600 kilograms of solid urban waste.

Environment and Climate Change Minister Leandro Álvarez stated that this opening completes the first stage of the provincial plan, covering the Quebrada, Valles, and Yungas regions. The infrastructure includes sustainable features such as LED lighting, solar collectors for hot water, and a photovoltaic system consisting of 48 panels.
