Cainz and Life to open new stores in Kamakura

New retail developments are coming to Kamakura City, Kanagawa Prefecture, with the upcoming openings of a Cainz home improvement store and a Life supermarket at a new commercial facility.

Cainz is scheduled to hold its grand opening for the Kamakura Kajiwara store on August 28, 2026. Located approximately 12 minutes from Shonan Fukasawa Station, the store will offer a wide range of products including daily necessities, pet supplies with an on-site grooming salon, bicycles, and outdoor gear. The store also features a renovation consultation counter and digital services like the Cainz app and smart floor navigation. Additionally, Cainz has signed an agreement with Kamakura City to cooperate in the supply of daily necessities during disasters.

Life Corporation will open its Kamakura Kajiwara store on September 1, 2026. This marks the company's second location in Kamakura in approximately 22 years. The supermarket aims for an annual sales target of 3 billion yen and will focus on fresh, local ingredients, including vegetables from the Shonan area and Kanagawa-raised pork. The store will also offer prepared foods and bakery items featuring local specialties like Kamakura ham.
