Sarah Khalifa sentenced to death in major Egyptian drug trafficking case

A Cairo criminal court has sentenced Egyptian television presenter and influencer Sarah Khalifa, 39, to death by hanging, alongside 11 other defendants. The verdict follows a major investigation into an organized criminal network accused of importing raw materials to manufacture and traffic synthetic drugs within Egypt.

Authorities seized more than 750 kilograms of narcotics and production materials during the investigation, discovering two residential properties used as clandestine laboratories. The group was also found guilty of possessing unlicensed firearms and ammunition. In addition to the death sentences, nine co-defendants received life imprisonment, while seven others were acquitted out of the 28 total defendants involved in the case.

Khalifa, known for hosting the crime-focused program ‘Mission Impossible’ on Al-Mehwar TV, has denied all charges. The court's decision was issued after the mandatory consultation with the Grand Mufti of Egypt. The defendants maintain the right to appeal the verdict through the Court of Cassation.
