Cairo International Airport officials seize smuggled firearm and ammunition
Customs officials at Cairo International Airport intercepted an attempt to smuggle a firearm and ammunition at Terminal 3. The seizure occurred during the inspection of passengers arriving on EgyptAir flight MS948 from Chicago.
Following suspicion raised by a customs officer, a search of a foreign passenger's luggage revealed a .45 caliber handgun and 11 live rounds of the same caliber. The items were seized in violation of Egyptian weapons, ammunition, and customs laws.
Legal proceedings have been initiated against the passenger, and the individual has been handed over to security authorities for investigation. The operation was conducted under the directives of the Egypt Customs Authority to strengthen oversight at all border crossings and airports.
