Cairo International Film Festival announces 47th edition

The 47th Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF) has announced its upcoming edition, scheduled for November 11 to 20, 2026. Marking the 50th anniversary of the festival's founding in 1976, the program will feature 145 films from 64 countries, including 109 feature-length films, 29 short films, and 17 documentaries.

Moroccan filmmaker Nabil Ayouch has been appointed as the first Moroccan to chair the jury for the international competition. The jury will oversee the awarding of the Golden and Silver Pyramids and includes international figures such as actress Fan Bingbing and director Ameer Fakher Eldin.

In addition to the film screenings, the festival is introducing a ‘Genre Series’ development workshop aimed at supporting screenwriters working in crime, action, horror, fantasy, and science fiction. The event also includes the Cairo XR programme, focusing on extended-reality experiences and interactive media.
