Cairo Montenotte hosts ANPPE rally to honor prison police

The National Association of Prison Police (ANPPE) held its XI North-Central Italy Interregional Rally in Cairo Montenotte on October 16 and 17, 2026. The two-day event featured institutional ceremonies, a concert by the Corps' band, and commemorations for fallen officers.

The gathering was dedicated to the memory of Antonio Chessa, a former Senior Inspector and former commander of the Marassi prison in Genoa, who later served as the president of the Genoa section of the ANPPE. Attendees included civil, military, and religious authorities, as well as Antonio Mario Galati, the Superintendent of the Prison Administration for Piedmont, Liguria, and Valle d'Aosta.

Representatives from the Autonomous Prison Police Union (SAPPE) Liguria, including secretary Vincenzo Tristaino and delegate Giuseppe Giangrande, were also present. The event aimed to honor the professional dedication and service of prison police officers and their continued social contributions through volunteerism.
