Cairo Opera House launches new music season and artistic projects

The Cairo Opera House has launched its 2026-2027 Arabic music season with a series of commemorative performances and new artistic collaborations.

To mark the season's opening, the Opera House held parallel concerts at the Grand Theater in Cairo and the Sayed Darwish Theater in Alexandria. These events honored the legacies of legendary composers Baligh Hamdi and Mohamed El Mougy. Performers included the Abdel Halim Nouira Arabic Music Ensemble and the Alexandria Opera Ensemble, presenting classic works such as ‘Tayar Ya Hawa’ and ‘Saghira Ala El Hob’ to preserve Egyptian and Arabic musical heritage.

In a separate development, Dr. Reda El Wakil, President of the Cairo Opera House, met with singer Ghada Ragab, Maestro Reda Ragab, and poet Abdullah Hassan. The meeting focused on potential new musical projects and the possibility of organizing upcoming concerts featuring Ragab alongside the Opera House’s Arabic music ensembles. Ragab expressed her readiness to collaborate with the institution, which she described as a ‘beacon of art in the Arab world.’
