Cairo sets 2026‑27 secondary school admission scores and limits transfers

Governor Dr. Ibrahim Saber officially announced the admission coordination for first‑year secondary schools in Cairo for the 2026‑2027 academic year. The minimum score for entry into general secondary schools was set at 225 points, while service‑class seats require a lower threshold of 185 points. Only students who earned their basic education certificate from schools within the Cairo governorate are eligible, and any transfer requests from other governorates are rejected unless the student first coordinates placement in their home governorate.

The decision also includes the admission criteria for technical schools, covering industrial, commercial, hotel, and agricultural tracks, with specific score requirements based on programme length and specialization. The new rules aim to control enrollment density and prevent arbitrary student transfers.

The policy applies solely to schools in Cairo, affecting thousands of prospective secondary‑school students for the upcoming school year.
