Caisse de Sécurité sociale launches social benefit payments via Wave

The Caisse de Sécurité sociale (CSS) in Senegal has launched a new system to pay specific social benefits directly through Wave mobile money accounts. This initiative aims to modernize services and reduce the need for beneficiaries to travel to physical agencies to receive funds.

The covered benefits include family allowances, prenatal and postnatal allocations, daily maternity leave allowances, and accident-related daily indemnities. Additionally, annuities or rents amounting to less than 100,000 FCFA are eligible for this digital payment method.

To access these payments, beneficiaries must complete an enrollment form, which is available both at CSS agencies and online via Wave. The CSS has also established a customer relations center to assist users with file processing, tracking requests, and managing claims during designated weekday hours.

This partnership leverages Wave’s significant presence in the Senegalese market, where the operator holds an 80% share of the national mobile money market. The move aligns with broader government efforts to expand access to digital public services.
