Caisse d’Epargne Île-de-France gives €500,000 for Fontainebleau forest rebuild

The Caisse d’Epargne Île-de-France has pledged a €500,000 donation to the Office National des Forêts (ONF) to support urgent work on the Fontainebleau forest, where 2,200 hectares burned in mid‑July fires. The funds will be placed in the ONF’s “ONF‑Agir pour la forêt” endowment to finance emergency safety measures, ecological and forest diagnostics, and the reconstruction of the damaged massif.

Separately, the ONF is organizing a guided tour of the Gouffern forest on 5 August, aimed at educating the public about sustainable forest management and the role of forest rangers. The event will also address recent large‑scale fires affecting forests in Gironde, Var, and parts of Spain, highlighting the broader challenges facing French woodlands.
