Cait Conley agrees with Mike Lawler that Governor Hochul must go
During a VFW forum in Putnam County, Democratic congressional candidate Cait Conley publicly distanced herself from New York Governor Kathy Hochul. While participating in a debate against Republican incumbent Representative Mike Lawler for New York’s 17th House District, Conley stated she was in ‘absolute agreement’ with Lawler’s assertion that Hochul ‘has got to go.’
Conley, an Army veteran and former Biden administration national security adviser, cited New York’s business climate and high minimum wage as reasons for her stance, noting that the $17 minimum wage puts local businesses at a competitive disadvantage.
Governor Hochul responded to the incident by stating she does not ‘lose a lot of sleep over other people’s debates’ and dismissed Lawler’s characterizations of the event. Conley’s campaign later issued a statement claiming Lawler was lying in an attempt to save face, though they did not provide further details.
