CAIT denies endorsing nationwide ‘No UPI Day’ on October 2

The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) has issued a clarification denying reports that it endorsed a nationwide ‘No UPI Day’ scheduled for October 2. The organization stated that no official decision, resolution, or announcement has been made regarding such an observance.

CAIT noted that while some regional bodies or independent trade organizations may have announced protests concerning Merchant Discount Rates (MDR) on digital payments, these actions are independent and should not be attributed to the national body. The organization described reports linking CAIT to the ‘No UPI Day’ initiative as ‘factually wrong’ and a result of misinformation or misinterpretation.

National President B C Bhartia and Secretary General Praveen Khandelwal urged media outlets to verify information through official channels and advised the public to rely on official communications rather than social media speculation. CAIT reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the growth and security of India’s digital payments ecosystem while protecting trader interests.
