Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark criticized media outlets for fabricating quotes about her debut season and called out the broader culture of click‑bait reporting. She said false narratives distract from on‑court performance and dehumanize athletes.

Clark also addressed the growing hostility toward WNBA players after a June 24 game in which Phoenix Mercury forward Alyssa Thomas made contact with her throat. Thomas received a one‑game suspension and later reported death threats and racist abuse. Clark described the online toxicity as unacceptable, noting it affects opponents, teammates, and coaches alike. League commissioner Cathy Engelbert issued a statement condemning hate, and the WNBA has expanded tools to monitor threats and provide mental‑health resources.

Still sidelined with a back injury, Clark practiced recently and hopes to return soon, though she will miss the upcoming game against the Las Vegas Aces. For the season she is averaging 21.2 points, 8.2 assists and 4.0 rebounds in 17 games.
