Caitlin Clark earns All-WNBA First Team honors amid media surge
Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark has been named to the All-WNBA First Team. Following a season where she averaged 22.3 points and 8.3 assists per game, Clark recorded more games with at least 25 points and 10 assists than any other player in league history.
Clark’s performance coincides with a massive increase in the WNBA’s digital presence. According to a study by Dr. Ryan Brewer of Indiana University Columbus, the league’s social media views surged by 436 percent in a single season, rising from 373 million views in late 2023 to approximately 1.96 billion views by the end of the 2024 season. Brewer describes this phenomenon as a “Taylor Swift effect,” noting that Clark has captured a level of public fascination that has fundamentally altered the league’s media trajectory.
Fellow Indiana Fever player Kelsey Mitchell also earned All-WNBA First Team honors after recording the most total points in a single season in WNBA history. Mitchell currently enters unrestricted free agency, leaving her future with the franchise uncertain.
