Caitlin Clark has drawn attention for her direct response to a reporter following the United States women’s national team’s fifth consecutive FIBA World Cup championship victory. During a postgame media availability, Clark was asked if she and teammate Angel Reese were “friends now,” a question aimed at addressing the long-standing rivalry narrative between the two players.

Clark shut down the inquiry by telling the reporter, “Don’t do that,” before moving on. The interaction prompted commentary from Kylie Kelce on her “Not Gonna Lie” podcast. Kelce praised Clark’s refusal to engage with the premise, describing the reaction as having “FAFO energy.” Kelce also questioned the media tendency to pit female athletes against one another.

Despite their collegiate rivalry, Clark and Reese were teammates on the championship-winning national squad, both playing significant roles in the rotation under coach Kara Lawson.
