Caixa enables FGTS calamity withdrawals for disaster-affected Brazilian cities
Workers in several Brazilian municipalities can now request the FGTS 'Saque Calamidade' (calamity withdrawal) following natural disasters such as storms and floods. The withdrawal allows for the removal of up to R$ 6,220 per linked account, provided there is sufficient balance.
In the state of Amazonas, residents of Manaquiri, Uarini, Borba, and Careiro are eligible. For Uarini, the deadline to request funds is November 18, 2026, while Manaquiri residents have until November 19, 2026. Other eligible locations, such as Godofredo Viana in Maranhão, have a deadline of August 23, 2026.
Requests must be made digitally via the FGTS app by providing an identity document and proof of residence. To qualify, the municipality must have an officially recognized state of emergency or public calamity. Generally, workers must wait at least 12 months between calamity withdrawals.
