Caixa enables FGTS emergency withdrawals for disaster-affected workers
Workers living in municipalities affected by natural disasters can request emergency withdrawals from their FGTS (Length-of-Service Guarantee Fund) through the ‘Saque Calamidade’ modality. Caixa Econômica Federal has enabled withdrawals of up to R$ 6,220 for eligible residents.
In Rio Grande do Sul, residents of Cândido Godói, Maximiliano de Almeida, Porto Lucena, Salvador das Missões, Santo Expedito do Sul, and São Sebastião do Caí can apply for the benefit until November 16, 2026.
In other regions, including parts of Pará, Amapá, and Pernambuco, certain deadlines are approaching on August 19, 2026. For example, in Terra Santa, Pará, the deadline is imminent.
To receive the funds, workers must manually initiate the request via the FGTS mobile application or at a Caixa branch. The process requires providing proof of residence within the officially recognized disaster areas. The release of funds is contingent upon the existence of sufficient balances in the worker's account.
