Caixa Geral de Aposentações revises approximately 3,000 pensions due to calculation errors

The Caixa Geral de Aposentações (CGA) is reviewing approximately 3,000 pensions awarded between May and August 2026 following errors in calculating pension amounts. The institution identified mistakes related to the calculation of the pension formation rate.

One affected individual, António Monteiro, reported that his monthly pension was reduced from 1,060 euros to 1,009 euros after he had already retired based on official simulations provided by the CGA. Such reductions represent a significant loss of annual income for retirees who rely on these fixed amounts for stability.
