Caixa Geral de Depósitos receives €95 million boost for youth housing loans

Caixa Geral de Depósitos (CGD) has announced a €95 million increase in its allocation under the public guarantee for housing credit. This reinforcement brings the total available amount to €602.2 million, aimed at ensuring continued financing for young people purchasing their first homes.

Since January 2025, CGD has financed 23,000 young individuals for home acquisitions, totaling €3.2 billion, with an average client age of 29.

Geographically, the credit distribution shows that Lisbon accounts for 22% of financing, followed by Porto at 14%. While these two districts are the largest, 64% of all credits have been granted outside of them. In the Alentejo region, the districts of Beja, Évora, and Portalegre each represent 2% of the total credits granted under this mechanism.
