Caixa Tem app experiences instability during social benefit payments

Users of the Caixa Tem application have reported significant access issues for two consecutive days, specifically on August 26 and 27. Reports of instability, including login failures, system loading errors, and difficulties advancing past the CPF entry screen, spiked on Thursday morning, with Downdetector recording over 1,000 reports at its peak.

The technical difficulties coincide with the payment schedules for major Brazilian social programs, including Bolsa Família and the Pé-de-Meia student benefit. This timing has increased the impact on millions of citizens who rely on the digital account to manage social and labor benefits.

Caixa Econômica Federal stated that the system has been normalized, though the bank did not provide specific details regarding the cause of the instability. Users facing persistent issues are advised to use physical lottery houses or Caixa agencies to access funds. Authorities also warned users to remain vigilant against fraudulent SMS or WhatsApp messages claiming account blocks during these periods of service disruption.
