Cake4Kids' Greater Pittsburgh Chapter Serves 6,000 Underprivileged Children with Free Birthday Cakes

Cake4Kids, a national nonprofit founded in 2010 in Sunnyvale, California by Libby Gruender, aims to provide free birthday cakes to at‑risk youth. The organization’s Greater Pittsburgh Chapter, the only Pennsylvania chapter, launched in March 2024.

High‑school sophomore Ishaan Sharma and his mother Priyanka Sharma serve as co‑ambassadors. Operating from Upper St. Clair, they partner with eleven local agencies—including SHIM, the Bair Foundation, Beverly’s Birthdays, Melting Pot Ministries and the Allegheny Family Network—to distribute cakes to children who might otherwise go without. By June, the chapter estimates it has reached nearly 6,000 children.

The effort targets underprivileged youth such as foster children, refugees and low‑income families, seeking to give them a memorable birthday experience.
