Cal football coach Tosh Lupoi outlines progress at ACC Media Day
At the ACC Football Kickoff media day in Charlotte, North Carolina, first‑year Cal head coach Tosh Lupoi said he is “pleased but absolutely not satisfied” with the Bears’ development since his hiring in December. Lupoi highlighted the team’s hunger, the impact of recent transfers—including quarterback Jaron‑Keawe Sagapolutele, running back Adam Mohammed and defensive back Ricky Fletcher—and a recruiting class that ranks among the nation’s top‑25.
He noted the program’s success in the transfer portal and said the upcoming season‑opening game against UCLA on Sept. 5 will be a key test. Lupoi emphasized that daily effort will determine the team’s results and reiterated the goal to compete at the highest level in the ACC.
The media day also featured a rundown of Cal’s 2026 schedule, with matchups against UCLA, Syracuse, Wagner, Clemson and others throughout the fall.
