Cal Poly athletics report mixed results in volleyball, soccer, and golf

Cal Poly athletics saw mixed results across several sports as teams concluded non-conference play or opened new seasons.

In volleyball, No. 8 Stanford defeated Cal Poly 3-1 (25-22, 25-22, 21-25, 25-20) at the SLO Classic. Stanford’s Jordyn Harvey recorded a career-high 21 kills, while Lizzy Andrew contributed 17 kills and four blocks.

The Cal Poly women’s soccer team finished its non-conference schedule with a 2-0 loss to Seattle University. Despite increased offensive pressure in the second half and four saves from goalkeeper Shannon Porubski, the Mustangs were unable to overcome two first-half goals.

On the golf course, the Cal Poly men’s team finished ninth at the Canadian Collegiate Open in Ontario, led by Rafael Bobo-Lloret, who finished 23rd overall. The women’s golf team placed 13th at the Leadership and Golf Invitational at Chambers Bay, with Maddy Saysanasongkham tying for 17th.
