Cal State LA students report on immigrant rights and social justice

Students at Cal State LA, participating in an anthropology course titled ‘Immigrant Experiences and Social Justice in the Americas,’ collaborated with the University Times to produce a series of stories regarding immigrant rights. Using anthropological methods such as participant observation and interviews, students documented issues including detention, protests, ICE raids, and due process protections.

The project involved training from the Glazer Dreamers Resource Center to help students become allies for undocumented peers and utilized archival research from the university library.

In a related perspective on the role of immigrants in the United States, a community member highlighted the significant presence of immigrant professionals, including doctors and nurses from diverse nations such as India, Mexico, Haiti, and the Philippines, within the American healthcare system.
