Calabar police arrest man for allegedly burning neighbor's house

The Cross River State Police Command has arrested 41-year-old Bassey Ekpo for allegedly setting fire to a neighbor's residence at 8 Miles in Calabar. The incident was reported by the homeowner, Ekemini Stephen, who learned of the blaze via a telephone call while attending church.

Following the incident, neighbors apprehended Ekpo and handed him over to the police. During preliminary questioning, Ekpo allegedly claimed that his 61-year-old mother instructed him to carry out the act. The police stated that the mother is currently at large and is being sought as the alleged instigator.

Police operatives have visited the scene to collect photographic evidence, and an investigation is ongoing to determine the full circumstances and the involvement of any other parties.
