Calabria Councilor Orlandino Greco Advances Recruitment Reform and Citizenship Law Revision

Regional councilor Orlandino Greco placed a draft law (proposal n. 65/13ª) on the agenda of the First Consular Commission of the Calabria Regional Council for the session on 3 August. The bill seeks to make the turnover of public‑service waiting lists faster and to improve institutional communication in the recruitment of regional public‑administration staff. Greco said the measure aims to ensure a transparent, merit‑based hiring process for the benefit of citizens.

Greco also submitted an official motion to the council asking for the revision of Law 74/2025, commonly known as the “Tajani law,” which limits the generational transmission of Italian citizenship jure sanguinis. Citing a February 2026 order from the Campobasso Tribunal that raised possible constitutional issues, he argued the new restrictions jeopardise the historic ties of the Calabrian diaspora. The motion calls for the removal of the stricter generational limits, protection of pending applications, and stronger consular assistance, and seeks a strong mandate to press the national parliament for changes.
