Calabria cultural gatherings invoke Dante's peace theme and anti‑mafia resilience

Professor Rino Caputo opened the ‘Intrecci’ cultural series in Calabria with a lectio magistralis on Dante Alighieri’s *Divine Comedy*. He emphasized the poem’s call for peace, its numerological symbolism and its advocacy for a powerful, just government, drawing parallels to the encyclical *Pacem in terris*.

At a separate event in the same region, Garante lawyer Avv. Russo spoke at the presentation of Antonino De Masi’s book *Inferi*. She described the gathering as a civil and educational moment that highlights the fight against the ‘Ndrangheta, praising honest Calabrians who resist organized crime and urging a cultural break from the silence that sustains it. Both events used literature and local history to promote peace, justice and anti‑mafia responsibility in Calabria.
