Calabria Film Festival crowns Kazakh short top prize in Crotone

The seventh edition of the Calabria Film Festival concluded on 30 July 2026 at the Molo Porto Vecchio in Crotone, marking the first time the event was held in the city. The competition highlighted themes of childhood, family bonds, human fragility and environmental challenges.

Kazakh short film “My brother Lyosha and I”, the directorial debut of actress Lena Tronina, won the Best Short Overall award. The jury – Daniele Orazi, Antonino Giannotta, Claudia Tranchese, Karen Di Porto and Ludovico Tersigni – presented a 24‑carat gold sculpture of Calabria crafted by Michele and Antonio Affidato. Additional prizes went to Giorgio Giampà for Best Director (“Astronauta”), Marco Marzocca for Best Actor, and Camila Bejarano Wahlgren for Best Actress.
