Calabria football events honor Catanzaro president, host journalists

On 8 August 2026, Squillace’s historic Piazza Duomo hosted the “Serata d’Onore” of the Premio “Città di Squillace”. The award, crafted by jeweller Michele Affidato, recognized Floriano Noto, president of Unione Sportiva Catanzaro 1929 and vice‑president of the Lega Professionisti di Serie B, for his leadership of the club. Catanzaro players attended, and the ceremony was organized by journalist Oldani Mesoraca.

A day earlier, on 7 August 2026, Piazza Monumento in San Lucido became the venue for “Accenti di Calabria – Il racconto, la voce e la passione”. The event, part of the cultural series “Luci… di Calabria”, featured veteran Rai journalists Francesco Repice and Antonio Lopez, who discussed football’s role in Calabrian identity. The evening also presented the A.S.D. Atlético San Lucido football teams (11‑a‑side and 5‑a‑side) to the local community.
