Calabria health system ends state takeover

The decree awaits formal registration by the Court of Auditors, with a deadline set for 31 July. The region’s overall health score rose to 189 in 2024, pushing preventive care above national thresholds, while district‑level assistance remains below target.

Italia Viva voiced concerns about the legal validity of the termination act and suggested the decision could be linked to a political pact with the regional administration, citing uncertainties over the role of President Roberto Occhiuto in adopting the relevant documents.
