Calabria implements regional economic and social development initiatives
The Calabria region is implementing several economic and social initiatives aimed at regional development and stability. At the 66th International Boat Show in Genoa, the region is showcasing its nautical, port, and business sectors, including various local companies and associations, to promote the maritime economy and the updated Tourism Port Master Plan.
In the agricultural sector, the ‘Academy Olivo in Campo Calabria’ is organizing technical and economic workshops focused on the olive oil supply chain, involving experts and regional authorities to improve production efficiency and sustainability.
In Catanzaro, local authorities are addressing environmental and economic concerns. Efforts are underway to prevent hydrogeological instability through waterway maintenance and a new GIS monitoring platform. Additionally, the municipality has introduced 2 million euros in funding to support local businesses and revitalize the historic center and neighborhood commerce.
Socially, the region has launched the ‘Reddito di Merito’ program, offering monthly stipends of up to 1,000 euros to high-achieving university students to discourage emigration and encourage academic excellence within the region.
