Calabria hosts filming for new Canale 5 series Madre Terra

Filming has commenced in Calabria for the new Canale 5 television series, ‘Madre Terra – Il Segreto delle Origini’. Directed by Cinzia TH Torrini, the series is a co-production between RTI and Aurora TV – Banijay, supported by the Fondazione Calabria Film Commission.

The production is scheduled to film across various Calabrian locations for six weeks, including Corigliano Rossano, Stignano, Copanello di Stalettì, Reggio Calabria, and the Aspromonte mountains. The narrative follows Caterina, a scientist raised in Germany, who returns to Calabria to lead experiments on an anti-tumor drug derived from bergamot.

The saga explores themes of family secrets, passion, and power struggles through a psychological lens, centered around the regional significance of bergamot. The series is expected to air in the upcoming season as six 100-minute episodes.
