Calabria hosts philosophy and harm reduction festivals

Two distinct cultural events are scheduled to take place in the Calabria region of Italy.

From September 22 to 24, 2026, Reggio Calabria will host the philosophy session of the Calabrie FES Festival. Organized by Osservatorio Da Sud, Spazio Open, and Med Media, the festival follows previous sessions on history and economics. The upcoming theme, ‘La morte come pienezza di vita’ (Death as the fullness of life), will explore human finitude and the relationship between life and death in the context of artificial intelligence, transhumanism, and new biological boundaries. The event aims to serve as a permanent laboratory of ideas, integrating philosophy, spirituality, science, and social reflection.

On September 19, the sixth edition of the Calabria in Fiore festival will be held at the University of Calabria in Rende. Promoted by Filorosso, this anti-prohibitionist event focuses on information and awareness regarding substance use, emphasizing health, individual freedom, and harm reduction rather than the promotion of consumption. The program includes the presentation of the book ‘Guida Stupefacente’ regarding risk reduction and self-regulation, as well as a presentation of the podcast ‘Illuminismo Psichedelico’, which examines the relationship between the mind, society, and psychedelic substances through a scientific and cultural lens.
