Reggio Calabria hosts fifth Scirubetta international gelato festival

The fifth edition of Scirubetta, an international artisanal gelato festival, has launched on the Lungomare Falcomatà in Reggio Calabria. The event features 34 master gelato makers from various Italian regions and seven foreign countries, showcasing traditional techniques and innovative recipes.

The inauguration included a symbolic ribbon-cutting by Chiara, representing the 'Il sorriso di Natale e Chiara' association, highlighting themes of social inclusion and solidarity. The ceremony also featured a moving tribute to Anthea Ranieri, a young woman who recently passed away in a local accident.

Institutional leaders, including Marco Granelli of Confartigianato and Angelo Musolino of Conpait, emphasized Reggio Calabria's potential to become an international hub for the artisanal gelato sector. The festival will continue until Tuesday, concluding with the announcement of the 2026 edition winners.
