Calabria housing program faces funding shortages
The “Una casa per tutti” (A house for everyone) initiative in Calabria, led by Governor Roberto Occhiuto and Social Policy Councilor Pasqualina Straface, is facing significant criticism due to funding shortages. The program was designed to use 9 million euros from the European Social Fund to provide a monthly 300-euro bonus to families struggling with high rent costs.
Despite the program's goals, final rankings published by Social Territorial Areas in Catanzaro, Reggio Calabria, and Cosenza have resulted in a category of recipients described as “admitted but not funded.” These are families who met all eligibility requirements and income criteria but will not receive the aid because the allocated funds have been exhausted.
