Soriano Calabro commemorates Filippo Ceravolo following mafia investigation breakthrough

A memorial mass will be held at the Sanctuary of San Domenico in Soriano Calabro to mark the 14th anniversary of the death of Filippo Ceravolo. Ceravolo, who was 19 years old at the time, was an innocent victim of the 'ndrangheta, killed in an ambush on October 25, 2012, after accepting a ride in a vehicle targeted during a criminal feud.

This year's commemoration holds significant weight following an investigative breakthrough in April 2026. The District Anti-Mafia Directorate (DDA) of Catanzaro and law enforcement authorities issued precautionary custody orders against the alleged perpetrators and supporters of the ambush.

The event, organized by the Ceravolo family and the Libera Vibo coordination, serves as a moment of civil engagement and a collective rejection of mafia violence. Martino Ceravolo, the victim's father, has maintained a long-standing battle for justice, stating that the family has endured a life sentence of grief while seeking the truth.
