Calabria launches training for 25 new environmental hiking guides

The Gal Serre Calabresi announced a selection for 25 participants to attend a 318‑hour training course that grants the title of Guida Ambientale Escursionistica (environmental hiking guide). The program is part of the “Le Montagne del Sole” project, funded by the Italian Ministry of Tourism through the Development and Cohesion Plan, aiming to boost sustainable, active tourism in the Serre and Preserre areas of Calabria.

The course, organized in partnership with Aigae – the national association of environmental guides – combines theoretical lessons and practical exercises. It will begin in the last quarter of 2026, with applications accepted until 30 September.

Graduates will be qualified to lead groups safely in natural settings, promote environmental education, and support local cultural and gastronomic traditions, contributing to the region’s eco‑tourism development.
